In
India today, we have technologies and capabilities to
make from a pin to an atomic explosion. At the same
time, when we want technology, we run abroad. This is
because there is no central place where the technologies
available are logged. Further, absorption, improvement,
horizontal transfer and export of technology aspects
are not given importance. In ever changing and fast
moving technological developments many presently operating
technologies in India are becoming outdated very fast.

Excellence
in technologies is key to commercial success and national
security. Unfortunately, the inefficient technologies
used in India have led to low production and productivity,
high cost and poor quality. As a result, our per capita
income is among the lowest in the world and our exports
share is 0.6% of the world trade.
